All About Me: First and foremost I am a mom to a wonderful 2 year old girl, Ani Sage, and happily married to my best friend, Chris (since 2011). We are a sports family - can't escape it. We work in it and live eat and breath it. I work in sport development for a national governing body and have been involved in NGB work since 2008. My husband is a Deputy Athletic Director for a Division I University. It's a bit of a crazy, busy, hectic life, but we have managed to make it work since we love it. I was born and raised in Northern New Jersey (yes, this explains a lot) and have an older sister, who is a life saver for my husband and I. Ani actually calls her, "Mommy Krissy" as she has been staying with my sister's family when we are traveling for work, since she was 5 months old. I really wouldn't want to share that title with anyone, but my sister deserves it. My parents are wonderful people who allowed me to prosper in athletics as they never pushed me. They allowed me the room to grow and love sports, and for that I am indebted to them for life. My family all still lives in the NJ/NY area and so I often get to go home to my roots.
When did you start your fitness journey? I started my fitness journey when I was just a wee little girl playing sports, but really had to learn to keep fit on my own after college soccer. However, I have a funny story. I vividly remember the first time I went out on a run getting ready for soccer season in 8th grade. I wore my indoor soccer shoes and brought Cheetos with me -- in case I got hungry! I guess that's the day I became a runner....I was one of the lucky ones who never really missed a beat in the world of healthy living. I remained an active soccer player well into my late 20's when I couldn't play anymore with undergoing a total of 4 knees surgeries all on my right knee. Since then, however, I have been continuing to run marathons and the summer after I had my daughter I completed 140.6 indoors. Side note - never subject yourself to that unless you can get lost in your thoughts to evade boredom.
What inspires you to Move More and Do More? I really enjoy sweating and being healthy, and above all I just really enjoy life and want to live for as long as I can. I want to see my daughter become an adult and see what her life has in store for her. And I want to see what my husband is like as a grouchy old man :-).
What is your favorite workout? A good long exhausting run that allows me to consume anything I want the rest of the day. There are times when you can outrun a bad diet ;-)
