Congratulations Sara! Thanks for being a Fitspiration! Ambassador of the Month has been chosen based on their support of #MMF & spreading the #MoveMore mission!
All About Me:
I am an only child to two awesome parents who are al- ways loving and supportive! My dad was in the military, but luckily I did not have to move around too much. When I did move it was to To- kyo. We lived in Japan for 4 years and it is definitely an experience I wouldn't trade, but also an experience I would do a lot differently. We moved to Tennessee after my dad retired to be closer to family and I have been here ever since.
I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in Psychology in 2003. I now work for family in a small air conditioning business that I absolutely love! Scott and I live together, are not married (and I am in no rush), and we have Alex (my step-son) who I love more than I ever thought possible!
When did you start your fitness journey?
I have always been some- what interested in fitness. Growing up, I did cheerleading and gymnastics. My dad was an inspiration when it came to working out. I was a daddy's girl so if he worked out ,I was going to workout (wish I had actually worked out with him instead of thinking I knew everything). I kind of lost interest for a while but it got reignited when my friend took me to a Jazz- ercise class. I joined, and for 2 years, I attended pretty regularly. Then in 2010, I got a little more serious and added running and the 30 day shred to my Jazzercise and started seeing results faster.
In 2011, I gained some weight back and gained the best step-son I could ask for. As life changed and I adjusted, working out wasn't as important. Fast forward to 2012 and I decided I had to get it back. I started running again and making sure I got to Jazzercise, then I supplemented that with a boot camp. Finding a balance between family and working out was and has been a struggle at times, but over the years I have learned to make it work. In 2013 I ran my first Spartan Race and was hooked. Finally in August of this year I will receive my Trifecta. Also, in 2013, I took on my first half marathon, decided I hated running, then signed up for another one, decided I still hated running, signed up for a 10 mile race, decided I definitely hated running, then signed up for a half
What inspires you to Move More and Do More?
I am always inspired by anybody who is pushing themselves to MoveMore and DoMore. I am constant- ly inspired by my friends and family and all those around me who are pushing for a better life! I like to move and do more for all those who want to but can't!!! If you have been around me you probably know that this girl just wants to have fun!!! This has been a year for new experiences for me and I am loving it!!!
From going White Water Rafting for the first time to finally stepping out of my comfort zone and deciding to take a stab at selling Younique. I am hoping to make this my year of change.
