Sofia is a FITSPIRATION and her transformation is remarkable! Read her short story below.
I began getting into fitness around the age of 16. It started out merely as an interest in aesthetics and trying to lose weight rapidly, but as I put on muscle I got excited about how much I was beginning to lift.
At the same time, however, I was battling an eating disorder. I didn’t ask for help nor did I understand the problems behind it. I just channeled my problems into what I did in the gym and in the kitchen. But as I got more into fitness, I realized this had to change if I was going to succeed.
Everyone I was around at the gym was into powerlifting, so I decided do it as well. In two years of lifting, I placed first in my age and weight group at a state level and set state records. Then I took a break and decided to slowly lean out. I got excited about the leaner look and decided to try competition in fitness.
In the summer of 2014, I competed with the National Gym Association in Figure and placed first. I had decided to compete on short notice so I hired a trainer who is a former International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Figure Pro, and she guided me to my success. I really enjoyed training and competing in Figure and intend to try out in the bikini category next!
I enjoy competing in fitness because it helped guide me to a healthier lifestyle, helped me overcome my eating disorder, and gotten me the physique and strength I want. I couldn’t have chosen a better sport to go into, and it isn’t just a hobby or sport to me, it is now my lifestyle.
