The November Ambassador of the Month has been chosen based on the wonderful job she did as a host for the #MoveMoreYoga challenge and always going above and beyond to help spread the #MoveMore mission! Please congratulate Yvonne Wezelenburg on being selected as our November Ambassador of the Month!
All About Me:
I am 42 years old working as a full-time cost account at a small company in Pijnacker, the Netherlands. I live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands with my Canadian man Darrell and our two cats, Wilma and Betty (get the theme ;-) ). I love almost anything comic book related, theatre, dance, books, and fitness among a few things to mention.
When did you start your fitness journey?
I started with classical ballet from 8 yrs. old, did track & field, ballroom dancing, field hockey and fitness over the years. Then I stopped due to work taking up my life. In 2011 I decided it was enough, when I went over 80kg. Started with Crossfit, but the WOD were just too advanced. My man suggested Bodyrock, which worked really well. In three months I released 3 dress sizes. Then 2012 I got pregnant, but this did not last long I miscarried at 5 weeks. The miscarriage was not handled properly by my doctors and gave me a bacterial infection in 2 of my lower back vertebrae. It took 7 months to get over it all physically. In January 2013 I was finally able to pick up my fitness journey again at over 93 kg ( I could not weigh myself at my heaviest, but I estimate I was probably around 95kg). So back to Bodyrock it was, but this did not work at all. In March I was so frustrated and so ready to give it all up, when my man suggested yoga (with SweatADay by Shauna Harrison). I finally slowly progressed. Two years later I released over 10kg and am strength training, run training, and adding more as I gain strength.
What inspires you to Move More and Do More?
I realized that a healthy body is one of the most important things in life. As I started meeting people who were interested in what I was doing, I started teaching them too. Now I am also on a journey of getting my certificates for fitness trainer basic level and NASM Personal Trainer. I love helping people in their fitness and health journey and seeing their progress. Changing one's lifestyle and habits and giving positive encouragement is where the secret is at. I also find it important to show the hard work one has to put into being healthy and show how it is with all my failures and my wins.
What is your favorite workout?
I have many favorites and just enjoy being active, does not matter if it is playing with our cats, walking in the park with my man, or working out at my club. Thank you Move More Fitness for asking me in December 2014 to be part of this amazing 'Move'ment and for all you do. This appointment is the best birthday present I could ask for, thank you!
