Please congratulate Rachael Novello on being selected as our October Ambassador of the Month!
All About Me:
First and foremost I am a wife and mother. I have been married to my husband, Brian, for seven years, our adorable little boy, Lucas, just turned 2! We are a very active family and enjoy spending as much time outdoors as we can. I am a personal trainer, fitness nutrition specialist and bootcamp instructor. I work locally at a small studio as well as running an online training and nutrition company. My husband is an inventory control senior manager for a frozen seafood company which takes him away from home on business trips quite a bit. It can be crazy trying to balance motherhood, running a home, training clients and running my own business but somehow we've figured out the magic to making it work. I am extremely family-oriented and consider my sisters two of my closest friends. When I'm not working with clients I'm either out running (usually with Lucas in tow), creating a new recipe in my kitchen, lifting weights or reading a good book. I truly believe in living in the moment and enjoying every aspect of your life.
When did you start your fitness journey?
I've always been athletic. My parents insisted on us "trying everything once" growing up, so I've been everything from an equestrian, to a gymnast, a figure skater, soccer player and swimmer. But it wasn't until 2010 that I found my true fitness love in bodybuilding. I began training for my first competition that October and have been hooked ever since. I took some time off before Lucas was born, but was back on the stage just 55 weeks postpartum and took home a 2nd place finish. Since then I've stayed active in the community continuing to lift and inspire others to do the same. I am once again taking some time off from bodybuilding but I have every intention of returning again in 2017!
What inspires you to Move More and Do More?
Knowing that I will be around for my children as they grow, and hopefully for their children is what truly inspires me. Outside of that, I love the feeling I get after a great run or a hard lifting session. Knowing that I am able to push my body to its physical limits and beyond has always been something I've enjoyed. Lately Lucas has started to imitate some of the things I do (squats, planks, picking up dumbbells) and it makes me smile knowing that he's learning at an early age that fitness can be fun. In addition, my ultimate goal is to show other people, women and mothers especially, that putting your own health and fitness first doesn't have to come at the detriment of your family. That there are ways you can always squeeze in fitness to be the best YOU that you can, in order to be the best for them!
What is your favorite workout? A really tough lifting session where I feel like I've truly exhausted my muscles to their max. When I was let go from my job in September 2014 I felt like my world was falling apart. But my husband stood behind me as I created and launched my business and started making my dreams a reality. My mantra has always been "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined" (Thoreau). Every day that I get to wake up and do what I love, literally changing people's lives, I feel blessed and lucky. Find your why, find what drives you and don't let anything stand in your way!
